The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch is the most iconic chronograph in horological history. It's the watch that accompanied Buzz Aldrin on the Moon on July 21, 1969 — the only one certified by NASA for space missions. In 2026, the Moonwatch is experiencing a spectacular resurgence of interest, driven by the MoonSwatch collaboration and new references.
Speedmaster resale prices in 2026. Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch (current ref. 310.30.42.50.01.002, caliber 3861): €4,500 — €7,500. Speedmaster '57 (co-axial): €5,000 — €8,000. Speedmaster Racing: €3,500 — €5,500. Speedmaster Moonphase: €5,500 — €9,000. Limited editions (Snoopy Award, Apollo 11, Ultraman): €8,000 — €25,000+.
Hesalite vs Sapphire: which version is worth more? The Speedmaster comes in two crystal versions: Hesalite (plexiglass, like on the Moon) and Sapphire (transparent sapphire caseback). Purists and collectors prefer the Hesalite version with solid caseback engraved "Flight-Qualified by NASA" — it's the "real" Moonwatch. It generally resells for 10 to 15% more than the Sapphire version.
The MoonSwatch effect. The Omega x Swatch "MoonSwatch" collaboration (2022) was a marketing stroke of genius. The €260 bioceramic watches created global buzz and attracted a new generation to the Omega brand. Result: demand for "real" Speedmasters increased by 25% on the secondary market. If you own a mechanical Speedmaster, you benefit directly from this effect.
The most valued limited editions. The Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary (2020) is the most sought-after: it trades between €18,000 and €25,000 (retail €9,600). The steel Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary: €8,000 — €12,000. The Ultraman (orange dial): €10,000 — €15,000. These editions never lose value.
Vintage Speedmaster: an exploding market. Pre-Moon Speedmasters (references 105.012 and 145.012, produced from 1964 to 1969) reach €20,000 to €80,000 depending on condition and provenance. Caliber 321 movements (the original Moonwatch movement) are the most sought-after — Omega reissued this caliber in 2019, which reignited interest in the originals.
How to sell your Speedmaster. Gather the full set: red box (or wooden box for older ones), warranty card, manual, pouch, and ideally the receipt. Speedmasters with original bracelet (not replaced) get better offers. At Hautane, our watchmakers know every Speedmaster reference — free estimate in 4 hours, 100% insured shipping.
The current Speedmaster Professional (cal. 3861) resells between €4,500 and €7,500. Limited editions (Snoopy, Apollo 11) reach €8,000 to €25,000. Vintage pre-Moon models exceed €20,000.
On the contrary. The MoonSwatch has drawn attention to Omega and the Speedmaster, which has increased demand for mechanical models by +25%. "Real" Speedmasters have never been more sought-after.
The Hesalite version (plexiglass crystal + solid caseback with NASA engraving) resells for 10-15% more than the Sapphire. It's the "authentic" version that collectors seek.
