In 2026, a Datejust 41 in steel with a black or white dial and an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet commands between £6,520 and £13,040 on the secondary market. Two-Tone versions (steel/gold) achieve higher values. Diamond-set bezel configurations command the highest premiums.
The Rolex Datejust was launched in 1945 to celebrate the brand's 40th anniversary. It was the first self-winding wristwatch with a date window display. The 41mm format (reference 126300 or 126334) has become the most popular Datejust size for men in recent years.
With its timeless design, varied dial options, and smooth, fluted, or diamond-set bezel, the Datejust 41 embodies horological elegance par excellence. It is one of the most versatile Rolex models — as suited to a business meeting as a formal evening event.
Authentication of the Datejust 41 begins with the serial number between the lugs, the reference at 12 o'clock, and the original papers. The dial displays the Rolex signature at 12 o'clock and perfectly aligned, luminous indices.
The Cyclops lens on the sapphire crystal must magnify the date exactly 2.5x. The calibre 3235 movement is Rolex manufacture. Oyster and Jubilee bracelets close with a precision Rolex Oysterlock clasp.
Steel with black dial and Jubilee bracelet is the most liquid combination. Blue, green, and champagne dials are fashionable. Two-Tone versions (Rolesor steel/gold) are more exclusive and command higher values. Diamond bezels achieve the highest prices.
HAUTANE appraises Datejusts with rigour. The model benefits from very broad demand thanks to its versatile character. In consignment, average sale time of 14 days depending on configuration. With immediate buyback, payment within 48 hours.
The 41mm is today the most liquid men's watch format. The 36mm remains favoured for slimmer wrists or those who prefer classic proportions. Both formats command similar secondary market values.
The Jubilee is more elegant and is the signature bracelet of the Datejust. The Oyster is more sporting and discreet. The Jubilee is slightly more liquid at resale on steel versions.
Black remains the most versatile and most liquid. Blue is very fashionable. Champagne (Two-Tone) is more classic and favoured by a more mature clientele. All resell well, provided the condition is excellent.
The Datejust is more of an everyday classic than a speculative investment. Its value progresses moderately (3 to 5% per year), driven by retail price increases. It is a pleasure-and-elegance investment whose value remains stable over the long term.
In consignment, expect 10 to 21 days depending on configuration. Black dial Jubilee versions sell fastest. With immediate buyback, payment within 48 hours after appraisal.
